Tech magazine BusinessCloud is today celebrating the Midlands’ ever-growing digital and technology sector with our latest regional list.

The ‘101 Birmingham and Midlands’ tech list shines a spotlight on the region’s tech firms – big and small – who are disrupting the sector through the clever use of technology.

In addition to being able to nominate themselves, BusinessCloud editorial team canvassed the views of industry peers to compile a long list of suggestions before whittling it down to the magic figure of 101.

The catchment area included the East Midlands and West Midlands but extended into several other counties including Derbyshire, Herefordshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.

Major towns and cities covered included Birmingham, Nottingham, Leicester, Coventry, Stoke-on-Trent and Chesterfield.

Publication of the list comes ahead of BusinessCloud’s upcoming ‘Could Birmingham’s tech sector rival London?’ breakfast event at the Innovation Birmingham campus on 23rd October.

Editor Chris Maguire said: “Our lists regularly attract a lot of engagement and millions of impressions across our social media channels.

“This is our second regional list after Yorkshire & Humberside and they’re proving to be particularly popular with our readers.

“As a national publication it’s important that we recognise and celebrate tech innovation across every UK region – not just London.

“The BusinessCloud team has visited Birmingham a number of times and we know that the city and region have a lot to offer when it comes to technology.

“I’m also looking forward to hearing from some of Birmingham’s rising stars of tech later this month to find out what the city needs to take it to the next level.

“We spend a lot of time researching the list but if you think we should include a company next time please email [email protected].”
