Telecoms firm Arrow Business Communications has expanded with the appointment of two new directors, and an acquisition.

The Surrey-based business bought £4.7m-turnover financial and healthcare specialist Worksmart Technology, which is headquartered in London.

Arrow chief executive Chris Russell said: "The key reason behind this acquisition is Worksmart's expertise in delivering enhanced hosted voice platforms, which are becoming increasingly popular to customers wanting to migrate away from on-premise based solutions.

WE ARE ON THE HUNT FOR THE UK'S TOP TECH FIRSTS - AND WE NEED YOUR HELP

"Overnight we have doubled our number of hosted seats and connectivity sales and added depth to our technical and product offering.

“Worksmart is a great fit for us and I welcome all of the team at Worksmart to Arrow."

The cost of the deal – its ninth acquisition in seven years – has not been disclosed.

Arrow has also hired John Harber and Richard Burke as directors to support the firm following its latest deal.

Harber previously worked at Lenovo, Sony Ericsson and Sony UK, and will lead Arrow's two most recent acquisitions: Pulse Business Energy and Worksmart.

Burke joins from Intercity where he has held director level positions since 2009.

He will assume responsibility for Arrow’s IT Services, Telesales, Scotland and Strategic Accounts teams.
