Baby tech focus: The bed that rocks babies to sleep

Technology

A bed that rocks babies to sleep is the brainchild of renowned paediatrician Dr Harvey Karp.

Snoo, said to be the world’s smartest and safest baby bed, soothes crying babies with the same rhythmic sensation they enjoy in the womb. California-based Happiest Baby launched its product in late 2016.

“My greatest hope is that Snoo will give babies healthier sleep and parents the confidence and rest they need and deserve,” Karp, whose business is endorsed by the likes of Justin Timberlake and Scarlett Johansson, told BusinessCloud.

The Snoo, priced at $1,160, uses a responsive robotic system that reacts to a baby’s cry with ‘shushing and rocking’.

It can also play white noise to help a baby get to sleep and includes a swaddle that attaches to the bed to stop the child from rolling over.

Parents can control it using a mobile app, choosing levels of rocking and sound.
