BusinessCloud editor to host edgy TV show revivals at IFB

Chris Maguire will host parodies of Mr and Mrs, Eurovision and 8 Out of 10 Cats during The Edge at the International Festival for Business in Liverpool.

The award-winning journalist and BusinessCloud magazine editor will take a break from his stock-in-trade of business roundtable discussions and conferences for three evenings of mayhem in the Oh Me Oh My building in West Africa House.

On consecutive Thursdays from 16th June, he will host ‘Club Edgy’ events Mr and Mrs, Globavision and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

Do you remember TV show Mr and Mrs, with Derek Batey and his glamorous assistant Susan Cuff?

Well, Maguire and The Edge’s director Kate Willard will leave their self-respect at the door as they take on the roles to revive the cult 1970s hit in their unique way.

Club Edgy will resemble a set from UK Gold as a number of business teams reveal how much they actually know about their colleagues.

A week later, on 23rd June, is Globavision: after all, why stop at Euro when you can go Global?

Compere Maguire and the ever helpful and multilingual ‘lovely Susan’ – played by Willard – will showcase the best international singing talent Liverpool businesses have to offer.

If you’re heading on stage, just don’t expect him to be complimentary…

And on 30th June there will be an Edgy-style 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown as Maguire and the wildly logophilic ‘lovely Susan’ – Willard again – take contestants through an unforgettable night of numbers, letters and, of course, unfortunate conundrums.

The Edge, the fringe festival at the IFB, has a strong Liverpool focus and gives delegates the chance to see more of the city than its World Heritage waterfront.

Edgier than the main festival, it is fully loaded with high profile speakers, big businesses, lively debate and late-night sessions as it boasts more than 35 events.
