Cyber security specialist Foregenix has kicked off 2018 with a new office in Brazil.

The new Sao Paulo office adds to bases opened in Mainz and Sydney last year.

The firm based in Marlborough, Wiltshire has established overseas operations in Montevideo, Uruguay, Boston, United States, and Sandton near Johannesburg in South Africa.

Guilherme Scheibe, who has worked at Foregenix for three years as a managing consultant, heads the Brazilian office.

“Our experienced team is already attracting clients that want top level cyber security consultancy and software solutions,” he said.

“The new Sao Paulo office shows the company’s commitment to further building our operations in Brazil.”

The latest expansion comes against a backdrop of rising internet use in Brazil, with more than 66 per cent of the population online in 2016, up from under three per cent in 2000.

The Brazilian Federation of Banks estimates more than 50 per cent of all financial transactions there are now made online.

Both trends have generated a significant rise in cyber crime, making it a hotspot for cyber criminals.

Benjamin Hosack, chief commercial officer of Foregenix, said: “Brazil is a rapidly growing digital economy with a high demand for specialist cyber security skills and experience.

“With its position as the Latin American economic and financial services leader, investing in a permanent presence is the next logical strategic step for Foregenix as we continue to build our international client base.”

Foregenix generates two-thirds of its revenue from international sales of its software solutions and consultancy teams, which operate in 20 countries.
