David Helliwell set up Helliwell Media with the aim of using his skills and experience to help companies and organisations communicate more effectively with audiences.

His training and consultancy has been taken up by businesses large and small as they seek an edge in a competitive world. He’s also written PR for international recording artists, major sporting venues and tourism attractions.

Before starting his own business, David was a journalist, editor and company director during more than 25 years working in the media.

He’s led newspapers and websites across the north of England. He’s a former editor of The Gazette, Blackpool, The Cumberland News and News & Star in Cumbria and latterly was the editorial director for CN Group.

In this role he was responsible for an editorial team of more than 100 producing daily and weekly newspapers, associated websites, social media accounts and specialist publications. His titles and teams won multiple national awards.

He’s worked on many public/private sector partnership initiatives, creating apprenticeships, instigating awards and on the start-up of a city-wide ambassador programme.
