All new Jaguar Land Rover vehicles from 2020 will have an electric or hybrid option.

The company made the announcement at its inaugural Tech Fest event, which focuses on the future of mobility.

“Every new Jaguar Land Rover model line will be electrified from 2020, giving our customers even more choice,” said Dr Ralf Speth, CEO of JLR.

“We will introduce a portfolio of electrified products across our model range, embracing fully electric, plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid vehicles.

“Our first fully electric performance SUV, the Jaguar I-PACE, goes on sale next year.”

Two months ago Volvo announced that all its vehicles will be fully electric or hybrid from 2019. Many motor companies already sell hybrid vehicles, while Nissan’s fully electric Leaf has been on roads since 2010.

The UK and French Governments have announced the sale of petrol and diesel cars will be banned by 2040, while the Scottish Government is aiming for 2032.
