A new chief executive has been appointed at hospitality staffing app Rota, which operates across five major UK cities.

Co-founded by former hotel manager Tom Williams, Rota has grown into a multi-million-pound app which currently has over 5,000 active members and operates in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Williams was frustrated by having to rely on expensive temporary staffing agencies and wanted to find a better way of working which benefited both venues and staff.

"In just under three years, the app has revolutionised the way the hospitality industry is staffed, taking away the frustration of relying on costly agencies and has already helped almost 700 venues find high quality service bar staff to waiters, baristas and chefs," Segel said.

"We have lots of great plans to continue Rota's success story and I can’t wait to help lead the team to bringing these ideas to fruition."

Segel has previously led fast-growth businesses from growth through to exit.

He served in group roles at both Blue Group and Aston Carter, taking Blue Group through a turnaround to doubling EBITDA and Aston Carter where EBITDA grew 4x over four years.

Williams added: "I am very excited to welcome Steve to Rota to lead the next phase.

"Steve brings a wealth of experience in scaling fast growth businesses and creating a culture of success for our staff, members and partners alike."
