fissara launches free incubator facility for start-ups

A technology company based in Greater Manchester has created a free incubator facility for local businesses and is calling for start-ups from the area to join them.

Software developer fissara is offering free desk space, office facilities and mutual support for up to 10 people at the fissara incubator which is based at the Millbrook Business Centre on Floats Road in Wythenshawe.

fissara itself took up space in the 2,000 sq ft office last year and has already expanded its rapidly growing team to 12 having picked up significant national contracts with companies such as O2 Telefonica, Motorola, AMCO Engineering, Belectric, CM Utilities and Scanlans Property Management.

“We have experienced rapid growth since opening at Millbrook last year and we took enough space to ensure that we can continue to accommodate our growing team over the coming years,” said director Jon Holttum.

“However, it seems a waste of an opportunity not to offer up the extra space we have right now up to other local start-ups who could benefit from working in a busy, team environment rather than operating entirely on their own.

“When people get together rather than working in isolation imaginations are sparked and ideas flourish so we decided to invite other local companies to join us and to work alongside us to establish their own businesses.

“We are not charging for this, it is totally free of charge we just ask that they buy the milk occasionally.”

Tim Newns, chief executive of MIDAS, Manchester’s inward investment agency, said: “fissara’s new incubator facility is a fantastic initiative, indicative of the inclusive and supportive business community that exists in Greater Manchester.

“We agree that innovative work is best brought about through collaboration and establishing new relationships, and we look forward to some great new digital IP being created in the facility in the future.”
