Scott Fletcher buys cyber security firm stake

Tech entrepreneur Scott Fletcher has purchased a 50 per cent stake in cyber security company Cyber X.

The founder of cloud services provider ANS Group has acquired the equity previously held by Energize Capital.

Warrington-based Cyber X was founded in 2016 by Ben Swindlehurst and provides customers with a free, automated assessment of their best security options.

“The decision to get involved with Ben and the team was an easy one for me. Cyber security is a growing sector and is not going to go away,” Fletcher said.

“The platform which has been designed and created by Cyber X is perfectly placed to support the SME market and offers businesses easy to understand solutions in an otherwise confusing market place.”

Swindlehurst added: “We recognise that cybercrime is a worldwide epidemic and is largely indiscriminate. If there is a weakness in a system, it can be exploited.

“We are thrilled to welcome Scott on board and look forward to working closely with him. We are confident that with his experience we can enjoy continued growth as we endeavour to take Cyber X to the next level.”

In December 2017, ANS expanded with the takeover of Webantic, a cloud transformation and app development specialist based in Manchester.
