Sean Crotty is a partner in Weightmans’ Commercial team and leads Weightmans' GDPR services. He has particular experience in data protection, IT, intellectual property, media and entertainment matters. 

Sean advises many high profile clients within the public and private sectors on a wide range of data protection, privacy and cyber issues, including insurers and insurance related bodies, IT companies, data providers, local authorities, NHS bodies, universities, housing associations and police authorities. 

For example, he recently advised the Motor Insurers' Bureau in relation to the MyLicence Project, a major and revolutionary data sharing scheme between HM Government and the Insurance Industry designed to combat insurance fraud (which is supported by the Association of British Insurers and the Department for Transport). 

Sean has considerable experience in advising upon high profile and complex personal data sharing, including the preparation of contract documents governing the relationships with organisations in the private and public sector and the sensitivity and reputational issues that can arise. 

Sean's team is currently assisting many clients in preparation for the introduction of GDPR built upon the team's wealth of specialist experience in the area. 

He regularly provides training courses in relation to various data protection issues. (eg. International Festival of Business 2016) and is regularly published in trade and national press (eg. Financial Times, IP Magazine, Insurance Post and Daily Telegraph). Sean is recommended in Legal 500.
