Sky cloud Wi-Fi to host Premier League goals in pubs

Sky is offering highlights of all Premier League matches via its cloud Wi-Fi to customers in pubs who sign up to show its matches.

The cost of screening Sky matches is going up, while top flight viewing figures are down this season.

BT meanwhile has offered relatively competitive prices to pubs since launching in 2013 and has taken over the rights to the Champions League and Europa League as well as many Premier League and FA Cup matches.

Sky Sports customers can watch fast highlights through a mobile app this season – and that will be extended to pubs willing to stump up the cost of screening matches.

“This is great news for landlords,” said David Rey, managing director of Sky Business.

“At Sky we pride ourselves on helping sports venues create the best possible atmosphere for their customers and this new service is one more way for them to do that.

“Football fans need look no further than Sky Sports WiFi pubs for all the Premier League action.”

Premier League matches broadcast on BT Sport will also be featured.

Pub customers will be able to watch the goals for 3pm Saturday kick-offs from 5.15pm through the Sky Sports Football Score Centre mobile app.
