Space 48 buys Bath eCommerce agency

Space 48 has expanded its UK operations after acquiring Bath-based ecommerce agency Meanbee.

Founded by Nick Jones and Tom Robertshaw in 2011, Meanbee specialises in developing and designing complex Magento stores for enterprise clients.

Space 48 is headquartered in Manchester with an additional office in London. The deal will provide the agency with a base in the South West.

“One of the key growth strategies at Space 48 is mergers and acquisitions,” said Space 48 founder and managing director Jon Woodall.

“This is our first and there will certainly be more in the near future.

“We’re in conversations with other agencies around mergers and acquisitions to reach our goal, which is to become the UK’s leading ecommerce consultancy. The acquisition of Meanbee is the first step in making that move. We are stronger together than we are apart.”

Explaining the rationale behind the deal, Meanbee managing director Tom Robertshaw said he and co-founder Nick Jones recently found ourselves “reaching out own limits in terms of growing the company further”.

“More importantly from a personal perspective, we’ve felt restricted from focussing our energy on what we really care about. We continue to love ecommerce, and love helping eCommerce brands succeed on top of high quality technical implementations.

“When we decided that we wanted some help in continuing this journey, our friends at Space 48 were our first choice. We have a lot of respect for what Jon and Tony have created in Manchester.”
