The bosses of several of the UK’s most talented tech start-ups have spoken of their delight after being included in two BusinessCloud lists that showcase the sector.

BusinessCloud’s inaugural 101 Tech Start-Up Disrupters list and 101 Rising Stars of Tech Start-Ups took months to research and recognised those companies which are using tech to disrupt  traditional industries and have the potential to scale.

Manchester-based Vonkel has an app which lets job hunters and employers send short videos of themselves – known as ‘vonks’ – to each other.

Founder Dan Kelsall said: “It’s a privilege for Vonkel to be part of BusinessCloud’s 101 Rising Stars. It’s recognition like this that gets us out of bed each morning…and coffee!”

Director Edward Green said: “Being on BusinessCloud’s top 101 Tech Start-Up list has really given us a catapult start to an exciting growth period in Miranex’s journey.

“Being on this prestigious list and being backed by UKFast gives gravitas to all of our business development and sales work.”

Swansea-headquartered Hoowla is an online case management system for the legal industry.

“The tech community is extremely supportive, it’s great to see the spirit of collaboration between companies, we’re stronger together.

“It’s initiatives like 101 Tech Start-Ups that facilitate allegiances and raise the profile of companies so they get the recognition they deserve.”

Proptech business Opun is disrupting the home improvement industry and has already attracted investment of £5.5m.

Rod Brown, CEO, said: “Every entrepreneur cherishes recognition because what they’re  doing is really hard. It’s incredibly gratifying to be recognised but it’s also very good for our team, our business and our customers. It’s very important and we’re very grateful to BusinessCloud.”

Since mid-2014 London-based digital mortgage lender Landbay offers everyday investors a chance to access the robust returns of the buy-to-let mortgage market on the same terms as institutions, whilst offering its borrowers a rational and fast decision.

John Goodall, CEO and co-founder of Landbay, said: “At Landbay we’ve opened up direct lending into the buy-to-let mortgage market via a cost effective and highly scalable technology platform.

“It’s great to receive recognition for this as a 101 Tech Disruptor and we look forward to rolling out more innovative proptech solutions over the coming months.”

All the companies on both lists have been invited to attend a prestigious half-day conference at UKFast’s Manchester campus on June 7th, where they will hear from the best business minds how to turn a big idea into big business.
