Sagedoor has exceeded a £200,000 equity crowdfunding target after 130 investors ploughed cash into the London theatre discovery app.

The company has already raised £320,000 – 160 per cent of its target – and is expecting to close the Seedrs round at £350,000.

Described as ‘the IMDB of theatre’, Stagedoor uses personalised recommendation algorithms and crowd-sourced reviews to help people discover and book shows in London.

“I would like to thank everybody who has invested in Stagedoor so far,” said co-founder and chief executive Michael Hadjijoseph.

“It has been an incredibly encouraging experience and we are delighted that so many of our users have decided to share in our journey.”

The Stagedoor app has already clocked more than 17,000 downloads and is now the official app for two of London’s biggest festivals: The Camden Fringe and The Vault festival.

The proceeds will allow the company to focus on growing its user base and revenue streams.

Stagedoor is also preparing to launch in the US in 2018.
