Video: Meet the Fit Gurus, enemies of 7-minute time-wasters

A fitness start-up in the North East saved four YEARS by going through an accelerator programme.

Paul Slater was a client of personal trainer David Stidolph when they came up with the idea for app Fit Gurus.

The co-founders based their fledgling firm at acclaimed shared working space Campus North in Newcastle – and found the experience of the Ignite accelerator invaluable.

Slater tells BusinessCloud in the below video that he learned more in four months on Ignite than in four years running his previous design company.

And Stidolph says that their app, which connects fitness-minded people with hundreds of top personal trainers, is focused on the user.

There are now tens of thousands of people from around the world in the Fit Gurus community.

They state on their website: “Fit Gurus is proper training, not seven-minute time-wasters – every rep and every second expertly programmed by top trainers.

“No fitness industry gimmicks, that’s not how we roll. All we care about is getting you training smart and smashing your goals.”

The North East has seemed somewhat remote in the digital Northern Powerhouse discussion – but that’s changing.

The region is receiving £1.7 million of investment to promote growth across the digital and creative industries.

Meanwhile Campus North is to train teachers in digital skills to help plug the skills gap.
