Why Hull is among the top five digital cities

Hull has a burgeoning reputation as the epicentre of East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire's digital tech community.
We visited the quirky offices of legal services firm rradar to see the sector first-hand and heard how the city is listed among the top five in the UK for digital start-ups.
A largely SME-driven economy, the Hull region opted out of the nationalisation of telecommunications: there are no BT lines in the city, which may have put off larger employers historically.
However an Ofcom report named Hull as the ultrafast capital of the UK thanks to the gigabit connectivity being rolled out by provider KCOM.
Tech firms in the area are now finding few problems with staff retention, while more tech talent is now available in Hull.
We spoke with The One Point MD Martin Lauer, For Entrepreneurs Only chief exec Jan Brumby, Dileepa Ranawake, community manager for the Centre for Digital Innovation, and Ash TV's Tom Lewis to hear their thoughts on the development of Hull as a digital centre.
