LCR Tech Climbers List 2019

LCR Activate, in association with Praetura Ventures, has launched the inaugural LCR Tech Climbers 2019 list, celebrating the fastest-growing and most innovative tech scale-ups in Liverpool City Region. Judges from LCR Activate and Praetura Ventures considered nominations from businesses which demonstrate significant operations in LCR.

The result is a list of the best tech scale-ups in LCR which are providing a unique tech solution to an existing problem and are creating disruption in their target sectors, including healthcare, education, manufacturing, and tech for good. The 2019 list also includes the region’s Ones to Watch – up-and-coming businesses that are active in the region, and are on course for great success in the future, with new and exciting technology and solutions.

3D Life Prints

3D Life Prints provides an affordable and efficient way for hospitals to access 3D technologies through the provision of a service package of hardware, software, and staffing. Having been established for around six years, the company boasts impressive projected growth for the next financial year, and is currently looking to open a further eight new Hubs both in the UK and in Europe. The company is aiming to expand internationally, setting its sights on the US, Dubai, Singapore, and Hong Kong. 

Angel Solutions

Angel Solutions are one of the biggest businesses on the Tech Climbers list, having seen significant growth since being established With an established reputation within the Liverpool City Region, Angel Solutions creates innovative web-based applications to help all levels of the education sector on a nationwide level. 

Blinx Solutions

Blinx Solutions is only a few years old, but it’s already set to make a huge impact in the healthcare sector, pioneering a digital application to support how Primary Care Networks can drive greater community care. Based in Daresbury, Blinx Solutions has thrived in Liverpool City Region and is looking to invest back into its local community through their work with the NHS. 

CiiVSOFT

CiiVSOFT, headquartered at Sci-Tech Daresbury, is a human resource and talent acquisition software company that works alongside its customers to identify and solve their hiring issues. By creating a number of different solutions to reduce the manual time spent looking at CVs, CiiVSOFT’s platform streamlines processes, assisting with efficient recruitment and connecting the right employers to candidates. With a view to scale the business commercially and expand overseas, CiiVSOFT’s modest number of years in the market demonstrate its ambitious growth plans. 

CNC Robotics

CNC Robotics provides integrated robotics solutions to businesses in order to streamline production processes, increase productivity, and improve overall business performance. Liverpool City Region has a rich manufacturing history, and CNC Robotics is working alongside some of the world leaders forging the Fourth Industrial Revolution, using new and innovative technologies to support their business. 

Collabco

With almost 10 years’ of experience, Collabco boasts an innovative technology offering and is a prime example of a Liverpool City Region success story. Collabco is well versed in servicing the education and academic sector, and has recently entered the healthcare market, digitalising access for one of the premier health facilities in Europe – Karolinska Hospital in Sweden.  Their expansion doesn’t stop there – the company has long term plans to roll out their IT solution across global markets. 

Cybertill

Cybertill is the leading cloud-based retail management software provider in Europe, and the company also has a growing reseller programme in North America. The business is projecting strong growth for the upcoming financial year, placing them firmly in the Tech Climbers list. Cybertill have a strong commitment to hiring local talent, helping it grow an innovative workforce in the heart of Liverpool City Region. 

DriverNet

Having only been established for a short period of time, DriverNet has showcased strong business growth. DriverNet provides a mobile operative smartphone app and central online hub to connect transport providers and their customers. It does this by taking paper-based systems and channelling them through their app to provide navigation and reporting channels, resulting in consolidated space for all travel information. The business recently won the 2019 Merseyside Innovation Awards. 

Evoke Creative

Working with some of the world’s biggest brands - including McDonald’s, JD Sports, and Tesco – Evoke Creative has been trading in Liverpool City Region for over 10 years and has seen considerable growth over this time Evoke Creative create and manufacture design-led solutions to allow brands to connect and engage with their customers in-store to help increase spend, improve the customer journey, and reduce costs. Its impressive projected revenue cements Evoke Creative’s long-term foothold in Liverpool City Region.  

Gas Tag

Gas Tag provides a real-time gas safety monitoring solution, aimed at protecting people’s homes from the dangers of unregistered gas engineers. Having recently won the Best Digital Transformation award at the 2019 Northern Housing Awards, along with the Lloyds Bank National Business Award, Gas Tag exhibit a significant presence in Liverpool City Region.  

Hi-impact Consultancy

Founded in the Liverpool City Region in 2008, Hi-impact Consultancy embeds technology into the curriculum of scores of education providers locally, nationally, and internationally. Hi-impact Consultancy has emerged as one of the world’s leading providers of 3D virtual tours, winning contracts with global brands such a Tommy Hilfiger, Liverpool Football Club, and Corinthia Hotels.  

Immersive Interactive

With over 130 active immersive spaces across 4 continents, including flagship centres in the famous Flying Doctors space in Australia, Immersive Interactive is a global leader in immersive spaces. In just a few years, Immersive Interactive has developed strong links within the region, recently starting a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with Liverpool John Moore’s University. 

Liverpool Chirochem

Liverpool Chirochem have developed a suite of novel chemical processes which give efficient access to chemicals that support new drug discovery as components of new drug molecules. With many years’ experience within the Life Sciences industry and a strong foothold in Liverpool City Region, the business has expanded its customer base to have global reach and is now rapidly growing in the US due to the appointment of its new Business Development Director in North Carolina.  

Living Lens

Living Lens is a leading video intelligence platform that enables not just the capture of consumer feedback through video, audio, and images but also allows the extraction of meaningful data within that content. The business uses clever ways to analyse data from video using AI and machine learning, and offers simple solutions to help its clients build powerful consumer stories. Living Lens has been able to build a world-class engineering team in Liverpool. With offices in Liverpool, London, New York, and Toronto, and with over two-thirds of its business coming from North America, Living Lens is set to continue seeing rapid growth, working with some of the world’s largest brands. 

MGISS

Based in the technology hub that is the Baltic Triangle in the heart of Liverpool, MGISS deliver a full range of geospatial solutions and services that help businesses capture, analyse, visualise, and inform using spatial data. The business has a strong market presence and is looking to expand its current product offering. With the view to add emerging technologies to its package, MGISS has the potential to become a global player in the geospatial sector. 

My Mobile Workers

My Mobile Workers offers software to manage mobile workers and jobs in industries such as maintenance, repair, installation, waste, delivery, construction, and highways. The majority of these industries have traditionally used paperwork to complete jobs, but My Mobile Workers takes these existing processes and builds them into a mobile app. The business has always been North West based, but has recently found its home in Liverpool.  

Orcha

Orcha is the world’s leading reviewer and evaluator of digital health apps, providing governments, health, and social care providers with advice on the best health apps on the market. The business uses cutting edge tech to independently review and rate healthcare apps using a seven stage clinically and academically assessed framework, enabling the end user to easily identify apps reaching the highest standards. Having only been established for a few years, the business has seen impressive recent growth, adding a number of new clients and team members since last year.  

Ostara Biomedical

Ostara Biomedical has developed a platform technology that tackles declining fertility, and results in improved success rates in artificial reproduction across a range of mammalian species, from domestic livestock to laboratory rodents. Liverpool City Region has been key to Ostara’s growth, providing access to a network of funders, consultants, and advisors who have supported Ostara’s early years to help it achieve impressive growth.  

Parentapps

Currently the only ed-tech company in Liverpool that offers a parental engagement platform for schools and nurseries, Parentapps specialise in the development and production of purpose-built mobile apps and websites for schools. With plans to expand their platform and technical offering, Parentapps are looking at continued growth within Liverpool City Region. 

RedWigWam

Boasting a huge projected revenue increase for the coming financial year, RedWigWam offers its 2,000+ customers a unique tech solution to their temporary recruitment needs. The business has plans to expand its offering into other sectors and develop plans to launch internationally. Being a relatively young business, RedWigWam is growing at an extraordinary rate with its database currently sitting at over 90,000 workers. 

Sky Medical Technology

With the NHS under tighter budgetary restrictions, Sky Medical Technology's pioneering medical device, gekoTM, enables significant savings by supporting clinicians in the battle against some of healthcare’s biggest challenges. The device is clinically proven to increase blood flow to help prevent and treat a range of acute medical conditions. 

Syrenis

Sci-tech Daresbury based firm Syrenis offers a ground-breaking business solution called ‘Cassie’, which assists organisations in solving the problem of managing contact, preference, and consent data. It enables organisations to synchronise their existing systems, creating one single source of the truth for each individual contact, whilst remaining compliant under regulations such as GDPR and CCPA. The business is still in its infancy, but the platform boasts 100 million contacts globally, and manages 1.6 billion preferences. 

Sysgroup plc

Sysgroup supports customers with their strategic and operational IT requirements by providing managed IT, security, and cloud hosting services. They do this through various products, systems, and services, including Avalanche, a device which enables their customers to quickly and securely copy large amounts of data to send for loading into Sysgroup’s cloud system. Sysgroup is another of the bigger businesses on the Tech Climbers list, and the business is keen on continued growth, looking to invest in the next generation of technology talent from Liverpool’s local universities. 

tickr

tickr is on a mission to transform impact investment (investment with a dual purpose of making a positive return and to have a positive environmental or social impact) for Europe's next generation of investors. Thousands of first time and experienced investors have joined the impact investing movement via tickr’s smartphone app, which aims to break down the traditional barriers to stock market investing and making it a positive experience for both the user and the planet. With uptake in the UK so far, tickr aims to expand across Europe and to offer its impact investment platform and products to both individuals and institutions. 

The Lead Agency

The Lead Agency creates campaigns using a unique network of owned and third-party websites to engage with thousands of in-market consumers at the right time, providing customers with high quality connections to help them grow. With over 10 years in business, the company boasts a strong customer base and established presence in Liverpool City Region. 

vTime

At the centre of vTime's offering sits its cross-platform and cross reality (XR) social technology, which powers the company's flagship B2C product, vTime XR. The world's first cross-reality social experience, vTime XR allows people to meet, chat, and share inside detailed virtual environments. The company has grown to become one of the leading companies in the AR/VR technology space, as the consumer market for AR/VR wearables and 5G/Edge builds around them.  

Wranx

The Wranx platform increases the knowledge retention of its users through the Spaced Repetition methodology, which ensures that the benefits of any training delivered is maximised. With none of its competitors currently offering all the features Wranx does in any one place, the company intends to stay at the forefront of its market.

AskEddi

AskEddi provides smart apps, data analytics, and machine learning/AI to transform the traditional and manual-based education sector. With opportunities to expand operations in the UK and global education market, the company is projecting significant financial growth this year. With a view to expand its team and commercialise the business over the coming year, AskEddi has ambitions plans to become an established leader in its market.

Comply Tag

Comply Tag provides an innovative solution whereby all works on a given property can be recorded at the time they are carried out onto a single database. Managers can then view, in real-time, the status of their properties using the ComplyTag dashboard to make a reliable assessment. The business has achieved a significant head start over potential competitors, by successfully bringing together a tag ordering and production system, cloud-based database, a smartphone application and a management information system which collates key information in real time.

IQ Blade

IQBlade provides B2B intelligence for companies operating in the tech sector through their competitive insight and market intelligence platform. IQBlade analyse and interrogate thousands of data points to help businesses engage potential partners or clients, identify customer patterns, and create profiles for likely targets. Going forward, the company is looking to develop its platform further and increase sales to small and medium tech companies throughout the UK. 

Make Thread

Based in the Baltic Triangle, Make Thread offers an innovative and unique social marketplace, combining e-commerce, crowd curation, and social media to create a loyal fashion community that removes entry barriers for designers looking to enter the fashion market. Make Thread are changing how the fashion industry works by providing a voice to consumers through a unique community purchasing and sharing experience.

PIN IOT

PIN IoT has developed a technology that tracks containers in real time. The process uses tracking devices and software to processes data into insight via maps, charts, dashboards, and alerts. The systems shows the real time location of every container, identifying which ones are available for use, and also sends alerts when they are stolen. With only three years in business, the company have already worked with industry giants such as Biffa and are well placed to lead this new market both in the UK and internationally via a scalable platform that could transform the waste industry supply chain. 

Play.Firstperson

Play.Firstperson is to become a banking application that works on top of any bank account, using the PSD2 Open Banking framework. It is designed to be a white labelled product providing the high street and major banks with a new, innovative customer acquisition tool. The business regularly uses freelancers from Liverpool City Region, taking advantage of the already rich talent pool.

Real Space

Machine vision has revolutionised medical image analysis, but solutions are not pervasive across all branches of medicine. Real Space provide a self-contained optical headset that is compatible with all extant content and workflows due to the fact that it’s an independent device with no software requirements. This means it can be quickly deployed into any extant system without incurring overhead costs. Based at Sensor City in Liverpool, RealSpace’s prototype has been refined into a robust and compact optical product demonstrator. Real Space’s next steps are to complete product evaluation and deploy PEQ demonstration units to leading industry voices.

SupplyWell

The latest national figures state that £1.26 billion is spent on supply teachers each year, and up to £520 million is spent on agency fees in LEA schools alone – £15.1 million of which is in Liverpool City Region. SupplyWell’s platform has been developed to address this issue and save schools money by connecting them directly with high calibre teachers, whilst providing wrap around care for those working in schools, in a bid to reduce teacher absence and improve staff retention.
