Two technology healthcare providers have signed a £2.67m joint contract to give smartphones to care home staff across the UK.

The 18-month reseller agreement for the devices plus accessories has been signed between mobile care monitoring firm Person Centred Software and Ascom UK.

Ascom UK’s Myco 3 smartphone will become the standard device for 20,000 staff across 1,200 care homes, who are already using Person Centred Software’s mobile care monitoring products.

The contract will also allow Person Centred Software to offer Myco 3s as replacements for over 5,000 Apple devices currently being used in other care homes.

Part of the Ascom Healthcare Platform, the Myco 3 works with software, apps and integrated devices to enable clinicians to respond to colleagues and residents at any time.

“We are delighted that a major player in the care home sector has joined with us to offer integration of state-of-the-art technology from both companies,” said Paul Lawrence, managing director of Ascom UK.

“Person Centred Software wants to offer highly responsive care to residents by gathering and analysing data from multiple sources more intelligently.

“Myco 3 will enable them to do that, while allowing staff to better manage their workload – together, we can help care homes to provide better care through digital transformation”.

Jonathan Papworth, co-founder and director of Person Centred Software added: “We are excited to partner with ASCOM to help care homes realise the benefits of using innovative technology.

“Care homes using Myco 3 handsets we will have the opportunity to integrate evidence of care with other systems to provide a universal mobile device for everyone involved in the provision of care.”
