A UK communications and IT managed service provider has announced the appointment of Lee Johnson as its new Chief Technology Officer and Head of Cyber Security.
Air IT, headquartered in Nottingham, has also announced that Johnson will head up Air Sec, the company’s specialist cyber security division.
As the company’s resident security specialist, Johnson will offer expert insight to more than 400 of Air IT’s SME and enterprise clients on critical protection plans and recovery against internal and external security threats.
With more than 13 years’ experience in the IT industry, Johnson will be responsible for directing the company’s technical strategy and will be involved in supporting Air IT’s ambitious growth plans.
“As someone who is passionate about helping businesses achieve their goals through the secure and efficient use of technology, I am delighted to be joining the team at Air IT,” said Johnson.
“With cyber security concerns regularly threatening businesses large and small, I’m looking forward to supporting and strengthening our offering to clients and advising how to ultimately safeguard their business.
“Air IT has an incredibly bright future and I’m excited to further establish us as a leading managed service provider in the UK in 2019.”
Johnson previously worked for IT organisations, providing infrastructure support across a number of sectors, based in the UK, China, Hong Kong and New York.
He is also a consultant to the East Midlands Chamber, delivering action-planning workshops to SMEs on cyber security, Office 365 and cloud computing as part of the EU funded Digital Growth Programme.
“2018 was a brilliant year for us and Lee’s appointment will see us continue to go from strength to strength,” added James Healey, Managing Director at Air IT.
“Lee brings invaluable skills and knowledge across the IT sector, and has proven experience in the MSP sector so is a perfect addition to the company.”
“His strategic, innovative and fresh thinking will integrate well with Air IT, and we are delighted to welcome him to the team.”
Air IT recently became the first MSP in the East Midlands to achieve a three-star ‘customer-led’ maturity level by the Service Desk Institute and was also shortlisted for two awards in the prestigious IT Service and Support Awards 2019.
