Starting out as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, and qualifying some years later, Annette has worked for the NHS for nearly 20 years within a variety of settings such as acute medicine, surgery, regional vascular unit, community and care homes.

Prior to moving into Telehealth she worked for 11 years within community settings as part of a collaborative care team within Community OT Teams, supporting people to stay at home when ill, thereby preventing hospital admissions and helping people to get out of hospital sooner.

Much of her work has been in individuals’ own homes, nursing and residential units.

Her role is to help triage patients and also to support the use of Telehealth into care homes and people’s own homes, with the aim of helping people to continue to stay in their own homes as long as possible and be able to access urgent care services if needed.

Telehealth offers additional support to individuals, and supports carers; the service is available 24/7 and there is always a qualified nurse or therapist available as the hub is based in a hospital.
