Australia VC firm Black Nova Group has announced international investment in Yorkshire mobile-tech company yboo.

Huddersfield-based yboo offers an app which helps consumers shop for a network plan based on their needs and usage habits.

The app uses its tech and big data to give personalised recommendations, and has to date helped more than 40,000 consumers in the UK.

It does this by measuring consumer usage habits across a range of variables, from price and signal strength to the areas where people live and work.

Black Nova Group said their investment in yboo is designed to help it scale up to meet its rapid growth in the UK while also driving its international expansion into the Australian market.

For its international expansion, yboo has its sights set on the Australian telco market, where it expects consumers to benefit from its service.

“yboo is the natural choice for our first UK investment,” said Alex Lennon, head of partnerships UK at Black Nova Group.

“Its ambitious team have created a powerful and unique technology that has the opportunity to make a significant difference to people’s mobile plans across the world.

“We look forward to working in partnership with them as they scale up operations ready for new global markets”.

Martyn Gould, CEO and Founder of yboo added: “We are delighted to have partnered with Black Nova Group to aid our launch in the Australian market.

“Our patented technology has the potential to help millions of Australian residents achieve major savings on their mobile bills and thanks to Black Nova Group we are looking forward to realising our international expansion plans”.
