Barclays Bank will create 1,750 IT roles over the next three years with 560 of the new recruits starting this year at its delivery centre in Knutsford, Cheshire.

The Radbrook Hall technology centre, which currently has 3,200 staff, delivers the firm’s global infrastructure and is also where tech strategy, quality and risk is determined.

Its Northampton base will be boosted by 100 IT jobs with 50 new recruits in London and 40 in Glasgow.

There will also be 200 new customer service workers this year with another 1,000 jobs to be created in the following two years.

The plans were announced along with the bank’s financial results, which saw profit before tax in the first quarter of 2017 reach £1.68 billion, compared with £793m for the same period last year.
