Cambridge Quantum Computing has announced the appointment of ex-IBM business developer Denise Ruffner as the firm’s Chief Business Officer and a member of its executive leadership team.

Founded in 2014, the quantum computing software company builds tools for the commercialisation of quantum technology.

It has over 50 scientists including more than 25 PhD's across offices in Cambridge, San Francisco, London and Tokyo.

In her new role, Ruffner will manage and coordinate CQC's business development activities and will focus on CQC's growth, the firm said.

She will oversee the fostering client development and loyalty, and managing corporate strategy and key relationships.

Ruffner has been recognised for innovation, sales leadership and strategic planning via her 18-year career at US tech giant IBM. During her time at the corporation she held a variety of roles which included responsibility for quotas up to more than $750m in annual revenue.

She joins Cambridge Quantum Computing from the IBM Systems Group Quantum Computing team where her leadership responsibilities included developing and heading the IBM Q Startup Program, in addition to leading the IBM Q network ambassador team for the North America, Latin America and Asia regions.

Prior to this, Denise was the worldwide genomics sales Leader for IBM Systems Group. Denise holds a Master's degree in Neurobiology and Molecular Biology from the University of Pittsburgh.
