David Holmes, manufacturing director, BAE Systems
Dave started his career with BAE Systems in 1984. He has been with the company over 30 years and during this time has occupied a number of roles within the Military Air & Information Business Unit.
Dave is currently director of manufacturing operations for Military Air & Information Business Unit at BAE Systems. The role covers functional responsibility for all the manufacturing activities within the air sector spanning people, process, systems, governance and physical activities as well as operational responsibility for the manufacturing support services.
In this role, Dave has overseen a number of strategic site development programmes with the establishment of critical facilities in support of the UK air sector operations.
In 2010 Dave received the Be Inspired Business Award (BIBA) Business person of the Year award, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) North West award for Design & Innovation and the North West Regional Development Agency award for Best Practice, the latter two being for the site master plan and developments at BAE Systems Samlesbury site.
In conjunction with academic institutes and Government bodies, Dave continues to lead the businesses undertaking in transitioning MAI’s systems, technology and people in the manufacturing business for the next generation of BAE Systems air vehicles and services.
