Dr Edward Harcourt, pro-vice-chancellor of external management, is a member of the senior management team at Liverpool John Moores University.

He took up his position at LJMU in June 2013 and has a broad portfolio covering external relations, marketing and communications, public and employer engagement, alumni and international relations.  Edward also chairs the university's Degree Apprenticeship Project Board. 

Edward began his career in publishing at Oxford University Press (New York) and the New York Academy of Sciences. 

A historian of the United States, Edward took his PhD in American History from Vanderbilt University in the United States and joined the University of Warwick in 2003 as an assistant registrar.

He later became head of institutional relations and interim director of the International Office at Warwick. Between 2009-12, he was the director of international relations at the University of Birmingham.
