After France’s victory at the World Cup in Russia, this week will see the world’s best FIFA 18 players battle it out in the FIFA eWorld Cup finals.

The annual competition will be held at London’s O2 Arena on August 2-4 with the top 16 PlayStation 4 players and top 16 Xbox One players battling it out for a share of the $400,000 prize pool after a competition involving 20 million people

The winner will take home $250,000 and tickets to the Best FIFA Football Awards with the runner-up getting $50,000.

Those who make it as far as the semi-finals on the final day of action will get $20,000 apiece.

Two of the players are from the UK while Germany has the most competitors with eight. Manchester City pro Kai ‘deto’ Wollin will be among the favourites, as well as 2017 winner Spencer ‘Gorilla’ Ealing, who beat ‘deto’ in the final.

“Competitive FIFA gaming has experienced fantastic growth in both viewership and participation over the last few years,” said FIFA’s chief commercial officer Philippe le Floc’h.

“The FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Final will gather the best FIFA 18 players from around the world in one place.

“London will provide a great location for this tournament.”
