Former TV Apprentice star Ruth Badger is the latest confirmed speaker to take part in a major women in tech event in Manchester next month.

The exclusive event – ‘In our own words: The changing perception of women in tech’ –  is being run by UKFast on 8 March and will coincide with International Women’s Day, which aims to celebrate women’s achievements and act as a catalyst for change when it comes to gender equality.

The audience will hear from several women in the technology industry who will be sharing the secrets of their success.

Badger was already a successful businesswoman when she applied to take part in The Apprentice in 2005.

She was so popular she hosted a hit TV series called Badger or Bust in 2007 which aired in the UK, America, Australia and New Zealand.

The entrepreneur launched The Ruth Badger Consultancy Ltd in June 2006 and specialises in helping SMEs.

She’ll be taking part in a panel discussion alongside a number of other high-profile women including Dream Agility co-founder and CEO Elizabeth Clark; Emma Sheldon MBE; and Tech North Advocates co-founder Naomi Timperley.

The event will be co-hosted by UKFast marketing director Kristina McGuirk and Patricia Keating, who heads up Tech Manchester, a non-profit programme funded by UKFast to support early-stage technology companies. BusinessCloud is a partner.
