Former N Brown boss Angela Spindler has joined the board of Manchester tech business Hiring Hub.

Spindler, who recently discussed her stellar 30-year career in retail with BusinessCloud – including senior roles at Coca-Cola, Mars, Asda, Debenhams and the Original Factory – has been appointed as a non-executive director.

PurpleBricks marketing director James Kydd and Ian Brookes, the former MD of Lorien, have also joined the board.

Spindler left N Brown last September after serving as CEO for five years, during which time she oversaw the company’s transition from a catalogue-based business to an online retailer.

She is also a non-executive director at Portmeirion, ScS Group and Madrid-based DIA group.

“Hiring Hub is an ambitious company and I’m joining at an exciting time,” said Spindler.

“It’s going after a huge market opportunity: using technology to consolidate and organise 1000s of specialist recruitment agencies with the goal of helping employers to source better candidates, faster.

“Companies have long struggled to find the talent they need to keep pace with growth, particularly for experienced hires.

“Hiring Hub opens up a fresh channel for employers to acquire candidates through independent recruitment agencies, which is proving very effective.”

Hiring Hub, an online recruitment marketplace used by more than 500 employers, connects employers with specialist recruitment agencies.

Simon Swan, founder & CEO of Hiring Hub, said: “Angela is a seasoned executive with real energy.

“She brings a wealth of leadership and commercial experience with her to Hiring Hub, and we’re delighted to welcome her to the board.”

The company recently raised £2m of investment from Maven Capital Partners, VentureFounders and Manchester Tech Trust Angels.
