Paris-headquartered cloud telephone platform Aircall is looking to expand its UK presence following a mammoth £53m funding round.

The UK is already a key market for the company, with customers including NatWest, Spareroom and Mindful Chef.

Co-founder and COO Jonathan Anguelov told BusinesCloud it is now looking to expand its UK staff and customer base further.

“Our UK customers make an average of 400,000 minutes of calls every day, so it’s important we serve them as best we can. Across Europe we have more than 3,000 customers and the plan is for this to double over the next 12 months,” Anguelov told BusinessCloud.

“We’re aiming to become the leading phone system in the UK and across the world, which will require significant investment in marketing, sales and account management dedicated to each region.

“With the funds from Series C, it has always been intended to use a significant amount on enhancing our presence and awareness in the UK.”

The expansion will also include new tech integrations, including applying AI for voice recognition, which Anguelov said would require the best engineering talent.

“The goal is to hire 150 new staff by the end of the year. We will be looking across the world for these new hires, with the UK firmly on our radar as being home to top tech talent,” he said.
