Acquisitive video games developer gains seventh studio

Sumo Digital has opened a new studio in Leamington Spa, appointing Chris Southall as its studio director.

The games firm will use the new studio to focus on mobile games, alongside their other six in the UK including the recent acquisitions of Red Kite Games (Huddersfield) and The Chinese Room (Brighton).

Southall previously heald leading roles at Sega and Codemasters. He also founded and built SEGA HARDlight, SEGA’s dedicated European mobile studio

Southall said: “Building this new studio, with a clear focus on mobile development is very exciting.

“I’ve long been a fan of Sumo so am thrilled by the opportunity to both create something new here and to be joining a group of talented studios.”

Founded in 2003, Sumo Digital employs over 500 staff across their seven studios.
