Erica Brescia has been appointed as the new chief operating officer of GitHub.

Brescia will lead the support, business development, and workplace experience teams, and help to scale GitHub.

She previously worked for more than 14 years as software company founder at BitRock and Bitnami, and has a ‘deep appreciation of the power that comes from developers and other project contributors empowered to collaborate effectively from anywhere in the world’.

She said: “I wanted the opportunity to bring my entrepreneurial mindset to an organization where I could be as passionate about the mission and vision as I was when I was a founder.

“I couldn’t think of a better place to do this than GitHub. Having spent most of my career in the open source software world, I have a deep appreciation of the power that comes from developers and other project contributors empowered to collaborate effectively from anywhere in the world.”
