Goodbye London, and Mancs for the memories

Manchester is the perfect alternative to London when setting up a digital business, according to those who have already made the leap north.

Out of every five professionals working in the city, four would recommend it, and 77% view the area as a technology hub.

Manchester is a popular base for businesses relocating, particularly from the capital, and 80% of those who have moved intend to stay in the city.

A report, by trade association Manchester Digital, follows the birthplace of graphene being voted the UK’s most liveable city for the second year running by the Economist Intelligence Unit.

Katie Gallagher, managing director at Manchester Digital, said: “A huge number of people who work in the digital and technology industries have chosen to relocate to the city.

“And the pull isn’t just across the UK, we are attracting talent from Europe too.

“The fact that most people would recommend working here to a friend, and so many people believe it’s a brilliant place to launch a start-up, gives us hope that more and more skilled professionals will move here and work with us to continue to grow the region’s booming digital and tech sector.”

The #RelocateMCR report questioned 300 digital professionals in Manchester on their views on living in and working the city.
