HealthTech pioneers complete virtual COVID-19 event line-up
An array of HealthTech pioneers have completed the speaking line-up for a virtual event which will consider the impact of COVID-19 on healthcare in the UK.
‘BC Insights: HealthTech and COVID-19’ will be held as a Zoom webinar from 10am-12pm on 20th May, with readers invited to register now.
With the UK population quickly placed under lockdown, the nation turned to technology to meet growing demand for services and an unprecedented influx of patients exposed to the coronavirus strain.
From telemedicine consultations to paperless communication tools, remote monitoring, innovative treatments and mental health services, tech is on the front lines of the battle against COVID-19.
As well as hearing from the businesses helping lead the fightback, viewers will learn how the pandemic has forced rapid and wholesale change within healthcare delivery – and what the following waves of disruption might look like once life returns to relative normality.
James Balmain, CEO at London firm Zesty, is among the latest speakers to confirm. Zesty is a leading UK Digital Health Company providing Integrated Patient Portals for the NHS and has received more than $10m investment.
Jen Fenner, MD of Liverpool engineering firm DefProc, will explain its ‘Push to Talk’ device which could help millions of people left isolated by coronavirus.
Sky Medical is the Daresbury-based parent company behind the OnPulse technology platform and geko wearable medical device, which stimulate improved blood flow for wound healing and the prevention of other conditions. Its EMEA distributor manager Chris Walker will speak at the event.
myGP is an NHS-funded app developed by London HealthTech iPLATO which allows users to book GP appointments, order repeat prescriptions and set up medication reminders on their smartphone. As government advised patients to only leave home in essential situations, it saw a 1,500 per cent increase in video calls and consultations. Louise Kitchingham, communications and PR Manager, will join our event.
Dr Victoria Betton, Chief Innovation Officer at Mindwave Ventures, which develops digital products and services for health and care that have a positive impact on people, will also speak.
Cameron Booth, digital advisor at North West tech agency Redmoor Health, and Simon Elcock, IT & Operations Manager at Library House Surgery in Chorley, will also join.
