Manchester-based cloud hosting firm UKFast has been named among the top three firms in this year’s Great Place to Work awards.

The awards, which recognise organisations based on team feedback and a comprehensive culture audit, named UKFast eighth in its ‘Large’ company category, and third place in its ‘UK’s Best Workplaces in Tech’ national awards.

The firm’s office perks include sleeping pods, an on-site gym and a crèche, private movie premiere screenings and a full-scale beach on the car park during summer months, and a ‘bring your dog to work’ policy.

CEO Lawrence Jones MBE said its commitment to digital training and education, both within the business and in the wider community, led to the company’s success as a tech workplace.

“Perks and days out are nice to have, but we learned some time ago that to make UKFast a truly great place to work we have to focus on giving people the opportunity to learn and develop,” he said.

“The results of this are clear to see – an engaged and constantly developing team is a happy team.

“We’ve taken on a team of full-time teachers with the view that, in the long-term, people are more satisfied and more motivated by developing and learning than by financial gain. It has altered the way we approach everything we do.”

Employing more than 350 people, UKFast provides cloud and dedicated server solutions to 5,000 UK organisations.
