UK online food delivery marketplace Just Eat has acquired a software services firm which provides small restaurants with table-based point of sale management systems.

The acquisition, of Practi, which cost an initial £6.7m, could precede further payments dependant on commercial milestones being met.

Just Eat plans to roll out Practi’s software to its restaurant partners to which will include payment handling, inventory management, kitchen operation and staff management systems if they do not already have the system in place.

The listed, London-based company has said that the new technology will help drive up orders and provide efficiency for partners.

“We are very excited about the acquisition of Practi. We found that many of our restaurant partners were calling for this type of software to help manage their businesses,” said Peter Duffy, interim CEO at Just Eat.

“It will play a vital role in supporting small and medium sized restaurants as it transforms how they run their restaurants and deliver the best service for customers through Just Eat.”
