Manchester City app to develop skills of young Americans

Technology

Manchester City has launched a free app allowing young Americans to test their skills against those of the club’s superstars.

SkillCity provides four challenges – speed of movement, ball mastery, finishing and passing – which were developed by the club’s Football Schools coaches.

Boys and girls aged between five and 14 can film their entries and compare them with friends or stars such as Kevin De Bruyne and Carli Lloyd.

They can submit them through the app for the chance of competing at a national final in California this October. The winner will then receive an all-expenses paid trip to Manchester to watch a City match.

“Manchester City is delighted to launch SkillCity, presented by Nexen, an interactive new app that we are excited to launch exclusively to young soccer fans in the United States,” said Nuria Tarre, chief marketing officer for City Football Group.

“The app will give users a truly authentic Manchester City experience that allows players to learn more about the game they love in an exciting, digital format.”

SkillCity is available on the Apple Store and Play Store.
