Managed services and cloud hosting provider SysGroup has appointed a new CEO to drive growth at the company.

Chief operating officer Adam Binks has been promoted to chief executive with immediate effect.

The Liverpool-based business said Binks will lead it through its next stage of growth, which will incorporate strategic acquisitions and continued organic growth to expand customer offering and geographical reach, as well as investment in capabilities and technology.

Binks joined SysGroup in 2014 and was appointed to the board as COO in 2017.

He has played a “pivotal role” in the company’s latest developments, which have included spearheading SysGroup’s recent acquisition of Rockford IT for £3.9m.

Michael Edelson, who will resume his position as non-executive chairman, said: “We are delighted that Adam has accepted the CEO position. He has been an important member of the team for a number of years and has played a pivotal role in the development of the company.

“Since his appointment to the board, Adam has made significant progress across the entire Group and we have been impressed with his strategic vision and leadership capabilities. His proven leadership and experience in IT combined with forward-thinking vision and unwavering commitment to the company’s growth, made him the natural choice to assume this role.

“The board has full confidence that Adam will realise the market opportunity for SysGroup as a managed services provider, leading the team through the next stage of growth.”

Binks added: “This is an exciting time for the company and I am committed to leading the team to drive further growth and continue our journey to expand our managed services offering.”

The appointment comes after SysGroup recorded a sales pipeline growth of 17.1 per cent in its half-year results published in September 2017.
