A new dental surgery and laboratory has opened in Leeds supported by a seven-figure funding package from HSBC UK.

The Dentist, a 2,500 sq ft purpose-built facility in Moortown, includes a private dental practice with three treatment rooms, as well as a dedicated in-house laboratory, VIVID Dental Lab, with crown and veneer milling capabilities.

It also houses a design mill and specialist fabrication facilities. This means that patients can be scanned and fitted with bespoke 3D printed crowns and replacements as part of a same-day service.

The launch of the new facility will create more than 15 jobs across a range of different roles, such as dentists and manufacturing technicians to receptionists.

“The concept for The Dentist has long been in the making so it’s incredibly satisfying to see this vision finally realised thanks to the assistance from HSBC UK,” said James Taylor, co-founder and director of The Dentist.

“The core team behind this project has been involved from the early stages all the way to arranging our first bookings.

“We’re proud to bring the latest procedures and tech to market from our Leeds site and hope to lead the way in medical innovation for many years to come.”

Matthew Joy, business banking senior commercial manager in West & North Yorkshire at HSBC UK, added: “The Dentist is a very exciting addition to the region and we’re delighted to be able to help the business open its doors.

“James and the team have been committed to delivering the latest in innovative tech and high quality dentistry since logging the initial plans in 2016.

“The new facility is incredibly impressive and we’re confident The Dentist can put smiles on faces long into the future.”

The Dentist has been founded by business partners James Taylor and Mike Goldstone. Taylor has been practising in dentistry for more than 20 years, specialising in orthodontics, implant surgery and cosmetic dental treatments.
