On the Beach is moving its digital HQ to a redesigned ‘campus-style’ space in the centre of Manchester.

The online travel agent’s growing digital team will move from Cheadle into the whole of the Aeroworks building, a former aircraft components factory, in November.

It says the space will be “one of the city’s most exciting new office spaces” and include a 250-seater auditorium and theatre, games room, library, music room and beach bar and furnishings.

The FTSE 250 company has taken out a ten-year lease on the building and plans to grow its digital staff from 200 to more than 350 over the next three-to-five years.

That would take the firm’s total number of employees to more than 500, with the contact centre staff remaining in the Park Square offices in Cheadle which are set for a major redesign and refit.

“On the Beach is one of the leading technology businesses in the North and the move to Manchester’s city centre – and in close proximity to Piccadilly station – will no doubt allow us to better leverage this position in terms of attracting and retaining the very best talent in the region and beyond,” said Simon Cooper, founder and chief executive officer of On the Beach.

“The new space and its state-of-the-art facilities have been designed specifically for our employees and shaped by their feedback and will allow us to become more collaborative, increasing our ability to innovate.

“We look forward to being at the heart of the Manchester digital business hub.”

On the Beach has been based in Cheadle for five years after relocating there from Didsbury. The firm floated on the stock market in 2015.
