A payments company headquartered in Paris has targeted UK growth.

The company which employs 500 people globally and has a presence in 170 countries made the pledge following the appointment of Stephanie Fougou as group general counsel and general secretary.

Ingenico, which provides smart payment terminals and e-payment solutions, works with around 200 clients in the UK including large retailers and the likes of Euro Car Parts.

It says it is also ‘leading the POS (point-of-sale) market among banks and acquirers’.

“The UK has a vibrant entrepreneurship culture and is one of the most significant payment markets in Europe; it is therefore a key market for Ingenico,” a spokesperson told BusinessCloud.

The company has five premises in the UK including three in Fife. Its warranty and service and customisation and development bases in Scotland recently underwent a multi-million pound refurbishment programme ‘to drive more modern ways of working’.

It also has an office in London and a customer helpdesk based in Northwich.

“For the past year, in particular, Ingenico has been transforming its position in the market, offering value-added payment solutions of the future, on both POS solutions and transactional activities,” the spokesperson added.

“Looking forward, our priority for the next two years is to enhance the value of our assets, accelerate our growth and make the group more profitable.

“The payment industry is moving very fast, so to be able to achieve this means that we must always attract new talent to remain the best in class payments provider.”
