The UK’s largest online pharmacy is to house 170 staff at an upcoming office development in Leeds.

Pharmacy2U has taken a 10-year lease on almost 16,000 sq ft of office space – the second and third floors of Lumina – at Thorpe Park.

Lumina is part of the £162 million phase two of Thorpe Park which is planned to be completed in September.

“We’re using technology to reinvent pharmacy, providing more convenient access to repeat prescription medicine,” said Pharmacy 2U chief executive Mark Livingstone.

“To do this we use the best facilities to continue to supply award-winning care for our patients, and Thorpe Park is an opportunity to take our offer to the next level.

“We’re proudly a Leeds-based operation and we’re really looking forward to moving 170 employees into the Lumina building at the most convenient opportunity.”

Pharmacy2U reported revenues of £43.1 million for the year to March 2018, with losses before tax falling to £12.5m from £20.6m the year before.

Scarborough International Properties Limited and joint venture partner Legal & General are behind the Thorpe Park Leeds development.

Paul Holcroft, a director for asset management at SIPL, said: “Innovative businesses like Pharmacy2U are attracted to a business environment at Thorpe Park that sets the standard for the future.

“The park is well supported with excellent shopping provided by the newly opened shopping centre, The Springs; has superb amenities including extensive green open space; and is close to homes and has excellent transport connections.”

Rachel Dickie, head of urban regeneration at Legal & General Capital, added: “A pre-let of this size demonstrates that strong market confidence remains in the Yorkshire region and at Thorpe Park Leeds, confirming our vision to create places and spaces where people want to work that is on par with the city centre.”
