Professor Simon Maskell, Professor of Autonomous Systems, School of Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Science, University of Liverpool.

Simon resides at the interface between Engineering, Computer Science and Statistics.

Having previously worked in the defence and security industry, he now leads the Liverpool Big Data Network, a collation of academics from across the University of Liverpool with an interest in applying and extending the state-of-the-art in Data Analytics to solve real challenging problems.

Simon’s core expertise is in the development of high-performance Bayesian algorithms for fusing ambiguous information from disparate sources of streaming data.

Indeed, in 2010 Simon chaired the international conference on data fusion and co-authored the standard text for a specific analytic technique (the “particle filter”).
