National investment group Mercia Technologies has appointed prominent entrepreneur and businesswoman Caroline Plumb OBE to its board as a non-executive director.

Plumb is a serial entrepreneur who co-founded FreshMinds, an award-winning recruitment and innovation consultancy specialising in consumer insight, market research and product development, in 2000.

She remains involved with FreshMinds as non-executive chair and is also CEO of Fluidly, a FinTech SaaS business that helps SMEs plan and manage their cash flow, which she co-founded in 2016 and has successfully raised investment capital from both UK and US investors.

“Caroline’s track record of helping early-stage technology businesses to scale will be of significant value to the group,” said Susan Searle, non-exec chair of Mercia Technologies.

“Caroline brings extensive experience as a highly successful businesswoman and entrepreneur.

“The board is looking forward to working with her as we continue to strengthen our position as a leading provider of Complete Capital in the key regions of the Midlands, the North of England and Scotland.”

Plumb was awarded an OBE in the 2016 Birthday Honours’ list for services to Business and Charity and currently serves as one of the UK government’s c50 Business Ambassadors, representing the UK’s Professional and Business Services sectors.
