Sky has turned to a former programme director who left for Deloitte as its new director of digital platforms.

Renee Hunt will take up the role, which covers all Sky Sports, Sky News and enterprise apps and websites, at the broadcaster’s technology hub in Leeds.

Before joining Deloitte’s UK Innovation Lab as a programme director, she performed several roles within Sky, including programme director on the development of Sky Q.

“I’m hugely excited about my new role at Sky, particularly the chance to lead the world-class talent that we have available in Leeds,” she said.

“The hub has played an integral role in Sky’s recent development in Europe’s leading entertainment business and I would like to grow it further.”

Hunt, who has run her own consultancy, No17 Limited, for eight years, will be responsible for 650 members of staff at the tech hub.

Tech firm Sky Betting & Gaming will create 100 new jobs in the coming months.

The  Leeds-based firm has more than doubled its workforce to 1,200 since Sky sold 80 per cent of the business to CVC Capital Partners in 2015, effectively splitting from the broadcaster.
