Founder and event producer Paul Lancaster told BusinessCloud that the 2019 event will be the biggest one yet.

“Our 2017 and 2018 events both attracted more than 600 delegates from across the UK, Europe, USA and Asia,” he said. “We’re aiming to make our third event on May 13-17 even bigger.

“This year, although the primary focus is on helping more people start or grow their business in the North East, we also want to give the event more of a national and international focus and have been building bridges with and tapping into other start-up communities around the world.

Newcastle Startup Week“We have more than 60 speakers taking part and every one of them has been invited because they are inspiring, motivational or proven experts in their chosen field. Someone who I know will blow everyone away is Steve Bartlett.

“If anyone is looking for some inspiration and a better understanding of the millennial mindset, they need to come and see him.”

The opening will be a celebration of local business success stories of the past, present and future at Robert Stephenson & Co’s beautifully refurbished venue behind Central Station, which is the site of the world’s first purpose-built locomotive factory.

The expanded programme for this year’s event will include events every morning, afternoon and evening at 12 venues across Newcastle & Gateshead.
