Sumo Digital was formed in 2003 by Carl Cavers, Paul Porter, Darren Mills and James North-Hearn following the closure of Infogrames Studios Sheffield, which worked primarily in the home computer market.

AIM-listed Sumo has relationships with international developers and publishers including Microsoft, Sony and Sega and has worked on titles including OutRun 2, Forza, Hitman, LittleBigPlanet, and Sega & Sonic All-Stars.

The independent game development studio now has studios in Sheffield, Nottingham, Newcastle, Pune (India) and Vancouver (Canada), and recently acquired BAFTA-winning Brighton firm The Chinese Room.

It employs approximately 450 staff.
