UK challenger bank Tandem has welcomed Paul Noble, a Barclay’s veteran, venture capitalist and CEO of recently acquired Allium as the group’s CCO.

The firm said Noble will be a key driver of the challenger bank’s mission to become the UK’s first ‘fully green’ digital bank.

Noble brings over 20 years of experience in banking incumbents such as Barclays, venture capital and was a founding member of 118 118 Money.

He will work with the Tandem team to develop new products and services, including an initial offering of ‘green mortgages’ and ‘green savings’ accounts, whilst continuing to grow the green home lending portfolio that Tandem recently acquired from Allium.

Tandem, which said it expects to achieve profitability in 2021, also plans to achieve  environmental sustainability.

Noble said: “People care, probably more than ever, about the future of our planet and are taking direct action to tackle the current climate crisis in ever increasing numbers. This includes self evaluating lifestyles and making money choices that actively work towards the realisation of a green agenda.”

“With all this in mind I’m looking forward to the future with Tandem and working together to build a fully green digital bank that will help many more people help the planet. ”

Ricky Knox, Tandem Bank CEO, added: “This is an exciting time for Tandem whilst we focus on becoming the UK’s first fully green digital bank and Paul’s experience is the perfect fit.

“He will play a crucial role in our mission to create eco-focussed products and services for our customers and ensuring our enduring mission of building ‘the good bank’ also means ‘the green bank’ .”
