A truly global FinTech firm has appointed a CTO in Bulgaria.

Kristiyan Shahinyan will lead the tech operation at phos, which has developed a software-only point of sale system.

phos CEO Brad Hyett is based in London and says tapping into a global talent pool is crucial to growth.

“If there’s one thing the pandemic has accelerated beyond all else, it is the need to support remote working,” he told BusinessCloud.

“While we continue to build an operational centre of excellence in Sofia, the team around the world are able to operate in a more collaborative and global way.

“With our development centre in Sofia and business development team based out of the UK, we are able to maximise on the talent pools and resources available in each.

“With this mindset, we are able to consider new resource centres around the globe and replicate the success we have seen with our existing EU/UK partnership.

“This is particularly important as we expand to other parts of the world with varying time-zones such as the US and Canada, where we are looking to launch in a few months’ time.”

Shahinyan brings more than 15 years’ experience in software development and will play a key role in the next phase of phos’ growth. Most recently he was team lead at SolarEdge technologies, a global leader in smart energy technology, where he led some of the company’s biggest software product programmes.

Prior to this, Shahinyan spent over 10 years working as a developer and project manager at ComSoft, a computer software company specialising in hardware systems, information services and systems integration. His focus was on governance and the banking industry.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the phos team at what is such an exciting time for the company,” he said. As a pioneer in softPOS technology, phos is uniquely positioned to provide contactless payment solutions and meet the growing demand for touch-free experiences in the market, meaning more revenue for merchants and greater convenience for customers.”

Hyett added: “Kristiyan’s appointment marks a key milestone in phos’ growth strategy and we’re pleased to welcome him on board as CTO.

A trusted expert in software development, Kristiyan will take the development of our innovative solution to the next level, as we continue our mission to help more businesses take payments directly on their phone than ever before.
