UK Northern Investment Summit targets growth outside London

Technology

The UK Northern Investment Summit this month aims to help establish a connected supply of finance for growth businesses outside London.

Aimed at start-ups through to scale-ups across the whole of the UK, attendees and speakers in Manchester will share investment success stories and opportunities from industry thought leaders.

Organisers the UK Business Angels Association (UKBAA) highlighted a number of investment opportunities it aims to raise awareness of, including the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund and the Midlands Engine Investment Fund.

According to UKBAA: “The government has committed to creating a Northern Powerhouse. UKBAA wants to reinforce and lend its support to that commitment.

“The objective of the government’s industrial strategy is to address regional disparities and drive growth across the whole country and UKBAA would like to actively support this ambition.”

The event, at Bridgwater Hall on March 28, intends to encourage and promote early-stage and scale-up investment across the whole of the UK.

There will be showcases from some of the North’s top growth entrepreneurs, including Tech North’s Northern Stars and Venturefest’s Entrepreneurs of the North.

Attendees will also meet key players from all parts of the startup and scale-up investment ecosystem – from private investors and VCs to banks and LEPs.
